Description:
Acoustic features
The MC 47 is a great microphone for most general purpose applications in studios, for broadcasting, film and television.
Flexible mounted transducers make very fast adjustments to various recording conditions possible - in mono-mode the pattern can be smoothly changed from cardoid to very wide cardoid. It is often used as a main microphone for orchestra recordings, for chamber ensembles, ambient-soundfield- recordings, for single instruments and performs especially well on vocals.
The MC 47 has a revealing, natural and clean sound, delivering transparent trebles, clear midrange and natural bass. The microphone gives high definition without adding any colouration.
It offers a flat frequency response and a low self-noise level of less then 17 dB-A. It can handle soundpressure levels up to 135 dB without distortion.
Construction
The MC 47 has a unique construction, featuring a special swivel adaptor for rotating the microphones two transducers simultaneously and at equal angles with respect to the acoustic axis of the microphone. This technology makes it possible to change the recording angle of the two transducers smoothly from 0 to 90°. A specific design allows the microphone to be switched to mono mode, where the sensitivity of the microphone doubles, without effecting the self-noise level.
The diaphragms, made from ultra-thin polyethylenetereftalate-film and gold-sputtered, are subjected to a special artificial ageing process that provides parameter stability in its lifetime. The whole internal construction is elastically mounted to attenuate vibrational and handling noise. A gold-plated 5-pin XLR-connector is used as output-connector.
Electrical features
The amplifier is built to the class-A transformerless standard. All used input transistors pass a special selection process to guarantee minimal self-noise. The microphone operates on 48V phantom power.
Operational safety
Made of brass with a finish of dark-grey non-reflective paint on an epoxy base, the microphone body is inherently immune to mechanical and atmospheric influences. A three-layer metallic grill effectively protects the transducers from mechanical impacts. The transducer's head is mounted on an elastic suspension to cut off vibrational and handling noise. This ensures operational flexibility and durability and makes the MC 47 also suitable for off-studio applications.
The microphone comes in a fine wooden box. A break-out cable( 5-pin to 2x 3-pin) is also part of the set.
